Your park quest

5 to tick, plus a bonus

When you get to the park, open your quest and we'll guide you through one step at a time. Do them in any order, across as many visits as you like — anything you tick is saved.

  • Walking

Walk the hammock loop trail at an easy pace, all the way round.

0.5 mile loop · about 25 min · Dirt and limestone, uneven roots, deep shade. Not stroller friendly.

  • Adventure

Spend time in the butterfly garden and photograph a butterfly or a flower it visits.

At the trailhead garden · about 15 min · Open sun; mid-morning is busiest.

  • Live More

Stand still in the middle of the hammock and count how many different sounds you can hear.

0.25 mile in · about 10 min · Shaded, quiet, level enough to stand comfortably.

  • Movement

Walk the loop, then add a second lap at a brisker pace.

1 mile total · about 35 min · Watch the roots on the second lap.

  • Together

Take turns leading on the loop — whoever is in front picks what to stop and look at.

0.5 mile loop · about 25 min · Narrow trail; single file works best.

  • Bonus · optional

Bonus: find a strangler fig and photograph how it wraps its host tree.

Along the loop · about 15 min · Look up into the canopy.

Discover this park

Castellow is one of the surviving fragments of the Redland hammocks. Hurricane Andrew tore through it in 1992 and the canopy grew back — walk the loop and you are walking a recovery story.

Park rules to know

  • Stay on the loop trail — the hammock floor is fragile.
  • Do not pick flowers in the butterfly garden.
  • No collecting plants or wildlife.
  • Keep pets leashed; some indoor areas do not allow them.

Park rules and safety instructions always take priority over an LMGT quest, challenge, XP, badge, stamp or reward.
