Your park quest

5 to tick, plus a bonus

When you get to the park, open your quest and we'll guide you through one step at a time. Do them in any order, across as many visits as you like — anything you tick is saved.

  • Walking

Walk the bayfront path from the parking area to the far shoreline and back.

1.2 miles out and back · about 40 min · Paved and flat, stroller and wheelchair friendly, very little shade.

  • Adventure

Photograph the mangrove roots where they meet the bay.

0.3 mile to the shoreline · about 10 min · View from the path — do not enter the mangroves.

  • Live More

Face the bay and take five slow breaths in time with the water.

At the shoreline · about 5 min · Open sun; a hat helps.

  • Movement

Walk the bay path twice, then do a full stretch on the lawn.

2.4 miles · about 55 min · Flat throughout; go early for shade and cooler air.

  • Together

Walk the shoreline together and each spot something on the water.

0.6 mile · about 20 min · Flat and open the whole way.

  • Bonus · optional

Bonus: find something on this site that hints at its history as an airfield and photograph it.

Around the park · about 20 min · Look at the open ground and the layout.

Discover this park

This was Chapman Field, an Army aviation training base in 1918. The runways are gone; what is left is bay frontage, mangroves and one of the quieter shorelines in the county.

Before you go

Park names, locations, amenities and other public information are provided for informational and navigational purposes. Park information may change. Verify current hours, closures, fees and rules with the applicable park authority before visiting.

Check current weather and park conditions before starting. South Florida weather changes quickly — no stamp, XP or badge is worth continuing in unsafe conditions.

You decide what is safe for you and your group. Follow posted park rules, closures and staff instructions. Children stay with a responsible adult. Never enter closed or restricted areas to finish a quest.
