    Photograph the Fox Observatory dome or the view out over the Everglades.

    0.5 mile to the lake viewpoints · about 20 min · Paved; range areas are fenced off.

    Write what Living More means to you after eight parks.

    No walking needed · about 5 min · Shaded picnic tables near the lake.

  • Movement

    Walk or ride at least two miles of the paved and off-road trails.

    2.5 mile loop of the paved park roads · about 60 min · Paved and shared with cyclists; bring water.

    Find the lakeside picnic area together and take one group photo you would actually print.

Discover this park

Markham Park sits right at the edge of the Everglades, and it packs an unusual mix into 669 acres: mountain bike trails, the Fox Observatory for stargazing, a full campground, a model airplane field, boat and fishing access, and a dog park locals call Barkham. It is less a single park than a whole outdoor recreation complex — a fitting last stop, with real wilderness starting just past the treeline.

Entry
Gate fee on weekends and county holidays only: $3 per vehicle (8 or fewer people), $20 for 9 or more. Dog park pass $25 a year or $5 a day. Camping and range fees separate.
Getting there
Entrance at 16001 W State Road 84, Sunrise, near the SR 84 and Weston Rd interchange.

The shooting range, RC fields and campground each have their own rules and hours.
